Applications are now invited for a pilot awards in any pathology discipline or a related field.

The scheme is open to candidates who are committed to a career in academic pathology. The award is open to all pathology disciplines. The pilot award is offered to UK citizens who intend to pursue a career in pathology in the UK.

The pilot award will fund work that would be completed within one year, or at the most 18 months. The award holder will be expected to submit a final report no later than 18 months after the start of the award. The award is for up to £10,000. In special circumstances, there is the possibility of increase to £20,000. The amount of funding requested will be taken into account when considering the applications. It is expected that this amount would not normally cover the cost of equipment, but in certain circumstances (such as the award holder being based at a district hospital), it may be appropriate to do so. No indirect costs will be paid on these proposals.
