Workforce planning is essential to the provision of an efficient, high quality pathology service. Both through monitoring AACs and through direct surveys, the Workforce Department:
- collects workforce data for use by the Centre for Workforce Intelligence (CfWI) and other relevant professional groups
- advises the College on trends in recruitment in pathology specialties.

It provides up-to-the-minute data on the UK pathology workforce, including details of demographics, posts and vacancies and will play a pivotal role in long-term workforce planning.
