The event is intended as an update by specialists in the field on the current criteria for the histological diagnosis of liver tumour. The emphasis is on primary liver tumours but one talk is dedicated to the main issues related to the diagnostic assessment of liver metastasis, a common topic of interest to colleagues working in specialist liver centres but also to those based in more general departments. Two talks are dedicated to the basic principles of liver tumour surgery and liver tumour radiology, to provide the basis for the understanding of the diagnostic work-up, surgical treatment and specimen assessment, a common interface at MDM level.
These two sessions are scheduled in the afternoon at present but may be moved to the morning. A final session is dedicated to the presentation of real cases to encourage discussion with the audience.
