A few practical hands on activities where pupils will learn about microbes.

"Pupils will leave their thumb imprint on some dishes, then with the help of a UV light box try they will be shown how to carry out good hand hand washing. They will then leave their clean thumb print on another dish and compare what grows. Secondly, they will find out where some microbes live by taking a soil sample and seeing what grows. Lastly is a bit of a fun practical activity by making model microbes from paper bacteriophages to balloon bacteria. Hopefully pupils will learn a bit about the small microorganism world that exists within us and also how microbes from elsewhere can benefit us by producing antibiotics."
