Why should I apply?

The Royal College of Pathologists is committed to setting and maintaining professional standards and promoting excellence in the teaching and practice of pathology, for the benefit of patients. Those holding office in the College contribute to this important work by providing professional leadership and contributing at a national level to the maintenance and development of pathology services and the quality of patient care.  

What does the role entail?

The Research Committee has delegated responsibility from Council for matters relating to the advancement of academic pathology and research in the UK.

The role will provide expertise and leadership for the committee by:

• Leading the committee and enabling it to fulfil its purpose.
• Ensuring an effective relationship between the committee and College Council; the committee and College staff; the committee and external stakeholders.
• Acting as a spokesperson and College specialty representative as appropriate.

What is the commitment?

• Attendance at three committee meetings per year
• Co-ordination of matters relating to committee activities, including drafting reports
• Reporting to College Council as requested
• Term of office: 3 years (November 2026 - November 2029)  

How do I apply?

• You must be a Fellow of the College to be eligible to apply. 
• If you meet the criteria and wish to apply, you must complete the nomination form by 5pm on Friday, 28 August 2026.
