New Consultants Committee Representatives

We would like to hear from new consultant pathologists and clinical scientists who are interested in joining the College's New Consultants Committee. This newly-established committee is made up of new consultants representing all specialties, with representatives from all the College's regions, and exists to advise Council on matters concerning new consultants across all specialities in the UK.

Why should I apply?

This is a great opportunity for you to make a difference, with a chance to inform debate on matters including the professional, clinical and continuing professional education functions relating to College members who are new consultants. It is also a chance for you to network with your peers, get involved with the College and support your professional development.

The Royal College of Pathologists has a key role in the professional aspects of pathology services in the development and delivery of health care. Those holding office in the College provide professional leadership, and thereby contribute at a national level to the maintenance and development of pathology services and the quality of care that patients receive.

What roles are available?

Representatives from all specialties are sought.

What's the commitment?

  • Attendance at 3 Committee meetings per year.
  • Support Committee activities by providing an update on matters relevant to new consultants in your specialty, and other tasks as agreed by the Committee.
  • In between formal meetings, much of the committee work is dealt with electronically. Representatives are expected to respond to electronic requests.
  • Term of office: 3 years from the date of approval by College Council.

Who can apply?

Any College Fellow, from any specialty within 5 years of their first consultant pathologist or clinical scientist post can apply. Applicants must be based in the UK.

How do I apply? 

If you meet the criteria and wish to apply, you must complete the nomination form by 5pm on Friday 6 June 2025.
