The demolition of The Goodman Building is nearly complete, leaving a gap on Alie Street

Demolition of the old Goodman Building is nearly complete. Having started in May this year, it should be completed in the next week or two. The site will then be handed over to Gilbert-Ash, the company that will construct the new building.

Gilbert-Ash are an award winning UK construction, refurbishment and fit-out contractor. They have experience of a wide range of building types, including landmark buildings, modern offices and science and technology projects.

Gilbert-Ash will take possession of the Alie Street site by the end of November and will then start “mobilising” the site; setting up their equipment, welfare cabins etc. Construction of the new building is likely to start in the new year.

There will be standard hoarding at the site until February, when Gilbert-Ash will install the branded hoarding from the schools science art project we undertook several months ago with children from the English Martyrs Primary School, which is in the square behind the new building. The colourful images of bacteria, viruses and cells will brighten up the hoarding and help build links between the College and the local school and wider community.

Further updates to follow in the new year.
