The UK’s medical profession is at ‘a crunch point’ and will face increasing pressure over the next 20 years a GMC report finds.

“Pathology offers a wealth of great careers. Pathology expertise is invaluable in looking after patients with disorders of the blood and bone marrow, infections, and cancer, and pathologists are involved across all specialty areas in diagnosis and advice about therapy. Our experts are facing great pressures through changes in services and organisations, staffing levels, rising workload and the increasing complexity of our work. The GMC’s State of Medical Education and Practice report highlights the vital importance of improving the lives of those already working in pathology while also making it attractive to those who want to join the profession.”
