Professor Jo Martin comment on Dr Bawa-Garba case

Commenting on the Dr Bawa-Garba appeal case, Professor Jo Martin, President of The Royal College of Pathologists said:

The tragic death of a child, and the subsequent events, have led to a profession-wide consideration of how we assess and deal with human errors that harm people. The pressures we work under, and the complexities of systems we work with, can increase the potential for human error. The need for senior clinical and organisational support for trainees has never been greater, as is the need for a just culture where sanctions are balanced and appropriate, and learning is shared to help prevent harm.”
