9 October 2025

Last October we launched the Member Survey 2024, inviting members to provide feedback about the College and their membership experience.

We used the results of this survey to develop commitments to improve our member services across 6 key areas. We are pleased to bring you the latest news on progressing these commitments, with a focus on content, communications and continuing professional development (CPD).

Our content strategy: the story so far

In June’s update, we shared the news that the College is currently delivering a major digital transformation project that will significantly upgrade our database and website. As well as improving your user experience, this enhanced functionality will provide us with the tools to deliver segmented and tailored communications.

In parallel, we are developing a content strategy to ensure you receive information and resources tailored to your involvement with the College, as well as your interests, specialty and career stage. Our ethos is simple: to deliver the right content at the right time to the right audience – all for the right reasons.

Delivering on a clear strategy around content will enable us to send you relevant information specifically tailored to you, supporting your professional needs.

How will this work benefit members?

Delivering on a clear strategy around content will enable us to send you relevant information specifically tailored to you, supporting your professional needs.

We also know that some members can struggle to find the information that they need or aren’t aware of all the services and resources provided to them by the College. Improving our capability to plan effective content will enable us to deliver the information that you need, when you need it. It will be easier to find the resources that support your professional development, offering a clearer picture of the work of the College and its value to the profession.

What is the College doing to achieve this?

The content strategy project is well underway. We have aligned our content themes around several ‘content pillars’ that reflect the College’s core values and strategic objectives. We are also finalising a content playbook that details our strategic principles and offers guidance to staff members on how to develop high-quality content that is aligned to these key pillars.

The College has convened a Content Strategy Steering Group (CSSG) to drive the project forward. The CSSG is currently developing a College-wide content planner that will make the planning and delivery of content visible and uniform across all directorates. This will allow us to plan content more effectively across the College, and produce a rolling content calendar that ensures timely content delivery. It will also help us to identify specific member groups or specialties that require more support.

We will complete the initial phase of this project to align with the launch of the College’s new database and website, and we will publish more news as this progresses.

Becoming a new fellow of the College marks a significant milestone in an individual’s career, and we want to ensure this cohort receives dedicated attention and tailored information to support their journey.

Communicating value: our information campaign for new fellows

We know that there are many areas where members feel the College is delivering high-quality services, but the Member Survey 2024 also highlighted that many members aren’t always aware of the key services that we provide and their individual member benefits.

It is imperative that we communicate effectively to you around the overarching value of membership. We have been working on several information campaigns to address this, starting with the ‘Your College, Your Membership’ brochure published earlier this year. This brochure collates extensive information to help you make the most of your membership, whatever your career stage. Please do take a look if you haven’t already.

Becoming a new fellow of the College marks a significant milestone in an individual’s career, and we want to ensure this cohort receives dedicated attention and tailored information to support their journey. We delivered a dedicated communications campaign for the latest cohort of new fellows, providing guidance on the array of College services and benefits available to them, and how they can get involved in activities facilitated by the College. This targeted approach aligns well with our commitment to ensure that all members receive information that is relevant, useful and timely.

The College’s digital transformation project will help us to modernise and improve the College’s CPD portfolio – a key benefit and essential tool for many members.

CPD: understanding members’ requirements

The College’s digital transformation project will help us to modernise and improve the College’s CPD portfolio – a key benefit and essential tool for many members.

It’s important that our members are involved in the redevelopment of the CPD portfolio so that it supports them in the ways that they need. We recently conducted a survey to our active CPD registrants (over 5,000 members) to ask for feedback on a proposal to simplify the category and subcategory levels when submitting CPD activities. We are grateful to all those who responded and are using this valuable feedback to inform our next steps.

Thank you for your continued engagement as we work to deliver on our 6 commitments to you. We will publish more news on our progress at the turn of the year.
