Minister for Health meets College Honorary Officers to discuss key issues in pathology

The President, Dr Suzy Lishman, President-elect Professor Jo Martin and College honorary officers hosted Minister of State for Health Philip Dunne at the College's offices at Prescot Street, London, for a constructive meeting around workforce, informatics, consolidation, genomics, academic pathology and leadership.

Philip Dunne MP was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of Health in July 2016 and leads on the following areas of policy:

  • NHS operations and performance
  • secondary care commissioning policy
  • healthcare quality regulation
  • hospital care quality and patient experience
  • patient safety
  • hospitals in special measures
  • Department of Health expenditure and finances
  • procurement
  • hospital productivity
  • workforce including pay and pensions, nursing and midwifery and education and training
  • workforce race equality standard
  • professional regulation
  • cosmetic regulation
  • maternity care
  • screening in pregnancy.

He is also the ministerial lead for:

  • Care Quality Commission
  • Health Education England
  • NHS Improvement
  • Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority.
