17 February 2016

The International Department will be hosting two challenge events in 2016; London to Paris Tour de France Cycle Ride (20-24 July 2016) and the Sahara Desert Trek (22-29 October 2016).

This eight day trip will take members through the vast desert and sand dunes of the Sahara Desert. With a team of local Berber guides and some camels (as well as a 4x4 support vehicle) members will trek each day through the dunes and camp each night under the stars in the Moroccan wilds. At the end of the challenge members will have the chance to take in the markets, palaces and gardens of the city, before enjoying a big celebratory meal next to the main square.

This challenge will be run by World Expeditions, who have experience of working with other medical royal colleges. In January 2016 the company will be taking 50 members of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) up Mount Kilimanjaro to spread awareness of their work and to generate over £40,000 each for their respective causes.
