The striking headline figure of an 18.9% pay gap for hospital doctors demonstrates the size of the challenge ahead.
The College has embarked on wide-ranging work on diversity and inclusion, and this report acknowledges other aspects of diversity which also impact on pay, in addition to the gender pay gap.
As a medical royal college, we accept the recommendations in the report and will strive to address those areas within our remit. These include careers promotion, training, assessment, our input into recruitment at specialty training, consultant and specialty and associate specialist level, routes to Certificates of Completion of Training, and our role as a national nominating body for clinical excellence awards. We further support the recommendations around wellbeing, recognition of caring responsibilities, and zero tolerance of bullying.
