The 2022 Neera Patel Lecture is taking place in February 2023 and is the final event celebrating the College’s Diamond Jubilee year.

The postponed 2022 Neera Patel lecture will be given at the Pathological Society Winter Meeting on Feb 2nd, 2023, at the Royal Society of Medicine. The lecture must be given about advances in either breast or head-and-neck cancer pathology. It will be presented by Professor Val Speirs, Chair in Molecular Oncology at the University of Aberdeen.

The lecture was established in memory of Dr Neera Kanubhai Patel, a cellular pathologist who spent 17 years as a consultant, in Brighton and at Northwick Park Hospital. She specialised in breast pathology and was the quality assurance breast pathologist for the London region. During her medical degree, she gained a 1st when she undertook an intercalated degree in immunology, at the University College and Middlesex School of Medicine. Dr Patel unexpectedly passed away from an acute coronary artery thrombosis in 2015.

We are calling for nominations for suitable eminent candidates for this lecture. The successful candidate will be selected by a panel comprised of members of the College’s Research Committee and PathSoc’s Research subcommittee.

The lecture and successful candidate will be introduced by one of the Honorary Officers of the College, as part of its Diamond Jubilee celebration.
