This year's World Patient Safety Day theme, ‘Safe care for noncommunicable diseases’, emphasises the importance of delivering safe, effective healthcare to improve patient outcomes. As a cornerstone of diagnosis, treatment and monitoring, pathology plays a vital role in supporting patient safety across healthcare systems.

The webinar series will bring together experts from across the profession to explore how pathology contributes to reducing diagnostic errors, improving clinical decision-making and enhancing the quality of patient care.

1. Improving patient safety through Point of Care Testing - Tuesday 1 September 2026, 1-2pm GMT. Chaired by Professor Peter Johnston, we will be exploring the opportunities and challenges of point of care testing and its impact on patient safety, service delivery and clinical outcomes.
2. Advancing paediatric and maternal health in the UK and abroad - Tuesday 8 September 2026, 1-2pm GMT. Dr Shubha Allard will be leading the conversation with an expert panel on the role of pathology in improving outcomes for children and mothers, both in the UK and internationally.
