Health economics provides tools to understand how limited healthcare resources can be used most effectively to improve patient outcomes. This seminar will introduce key concepts in health economics and demonstrate their relevance to everyday clinical decision-making.

An introduction to health economics for clinicians

  • Lavanya Diwakar

    SPEAKER

    Lavanya Diwakar is a consultant immunologist at the University Hospital of North Midlands.

    She holds a Master's degree in Health Economics and Health Policy from the University of Birmingham, where she also completed her PhD.

    Currently funded by the NIHR, she is involved in research on economic models related to allergic diseases. In addition, she holds a part-time position as an honorary associate professor in Health Economics at the University of Birmingham.
