Asok Biswas is the Lead Consultant Dermatopathologist at the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Pathology at the University of Edinburgh.

Before moving to the UK, Dr Biswas did his Pathology residency in Manipal, India where is currently an Adjunct Visiting Professor. Following completion of Histopathology training in the West Midlands region, he pursued a Dermatopathology fellowship at the Boston University School of Medicine. His main research interests in dermatopathology include inflammatory skin disorders and cutaneous adnexal neoplasms.

Dr Biswas is currently the President of the British Society for Dermatopathology, having previously served in the roles of the Secretary and Executive Committee member. He is the Chair of the RCPath Panel of Examiners in Dermatopathology. He has published over 70 articles covering most aspects of dermatopathology and authored a textbook titled Pearls and pitfalls in inflammatory dermatopathology which was published by the Cambridge University Press in 2017.

Arnaud de la Fouchardière is a pathologist working in the Cancer Care Hospital in Lyon (France). As a fellow he has received training both in clinical dermatology and pathology in Lyon’s university hospital. In 2004, he takes over a position as assistant in the pathology department of Lyon’s cancer care hospital. There, he is mentored for 5 years by Christiane Bailly during which he received intensive training in interpretation of melanocytic lesions. Since 2009, he occupies a very unusual position as a general pathologist with expertise in melanocytic tumors. He receives over 2000 consultation cases a year (99% are melanocytic). He has gradually built a diagnostic research project called «Melanoledge" aiming to combine clinical, pathological, genetic and molecular data in order to have a better insight on the genesis of nevi and melanomas. This ancillary diagnostic approach is layered by a morphologic and immunohistochemical screening selecting the few cases eligible for molecular testing such as array-CGH , RNAseq and FISH techniques. Although his position is unbound to medical schools/universities, he is strongly engaged in teaching: he gives twice a year a 3 day course on melanocytic tumors, he teaches pathology residents and has been among the first to perform interactive online teaching (webinars sessions) on the use of immunohistochemistry in melanocytic tumors.

Dr Swale trained at The Institute of Dermatology and The Royal London Hospital, where her MD involved research into genetic aspects of moles and skin cancer. She joined the Royal Free Hospital as a consultant Dermatologist in 2004; in 2006 she was appointed as a locum consultant Dermatopathologist and divides her time between these posts. She set up and leads clinicopathological conferences in Dermatology, vulval and genito-urinary skin disease at the Royal Free. Dr Swale was a member of the Dermatology Speciality Questions Group of the Royal College of Physicians for 10 years, then a member of the SCE question writing group from 2016-2019. She is now a member of the Examining Board.  She is a past undergraduate Dermatology teaching lead at The Royal Free. She teaches in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology, including the annual British Association of Sexual Health and HIV Genital Dermatology courses. Dr Swale is a past member of the Therapy and Guidelines Committee of the British Association of Dermatologists. She organised the annual conference for the British Society for the Study of Vulval Diseases in 2019, and was the senior judge for the British Association of Dermatologists annual conferences in 2017 and 2019. Her specialist interests include skin cancer, pigmented lesions, clinicopathological correlation and vulval dermatology.

Dr Eleni Ieremia is a consultant dermatopathologist at John Radcliffe Hospital at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She has previously completed a two year fellowship in dermatopathology under Dr Eduardo Calonje at St John’s Institute of Dermatology in St Thomas’ Hospital in London. Dr Ieremia holds the Diploma of the Royal College of Pathologists in Dermatopathology and the International Diploma in Dermatopathology by the ICDP-UEMS. She has completed her training in histopathology at Barts and the London NHS Foundation Trust and has been a fellow in soft tissue pathology under Prof Cyril Fisher at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Qualified in 1991 from Sheffield University Medical School. Developed an interest in Dermatopathology training with Dr Phillip H. McKee and Dr Eduardo Calonje at St Thomas' hospital. Has the Royal College of Pathologists (RCPath) Diploma in Dermatopathology  and became an examiner in 2005. Receives cases for expert opinions throughout the UK.  Executive committee of the UK Dermatopathology EQA scheme. Authored/co-authored around 80 published papers and lectures regionally, nationally and internationally in dermatopathology. Organises an international slide of club of leading experts in the field of melanocytic pathology (allied with the National Dermatopathology EQA scheme). Extensive slide collection (database) open to visitors from the UK and abroad. Participates in the e-learning site, Dermpathpro, providing regular cases for the popular “Spot Diagnosis” section.
