The Royal College of Pathologists co-ordinates the production of quality-assured guidelines and best practice recommendations to inform and assist pathologists – along with other healthcare providers – on best clinical practice.

Some of these guidance documents are organised by specialty – for example, the cancer datasets and tissue pathways and autopsy guidelines series are designed for cellular pathologists – and some apply to all specialties. The College also contributes to The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) national guidance on treatment and care for those using the NHS in England and Wales.
