Shape of Training
The Shape of Training was an independent review led by Professor David Greenaway that looked at potential reforms to the structure of postgraduate medical training in the UK. The final report was published in October 2013.
In February 2015 the UK Shape of Training Steering Group (UKSTSG) asked the Academy, supported by the General Medical Council, to undertake a mapping to look at the extent to which Colleges have or can develop the generic components of their curricula.
In October 2015, the College responded to the mapping exercise. The general response is available below.
The findings from the exercise were reported to the UK Steering Group at its meeting on 23 November. The UKSTSG welcomed the draft report recognising that it covered many of the recommendations outlined in the Shape of Training Report.
The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges has now published a final summary report of the mapping exercise on Shape of Training undertaken by Colleges and Faculties.
Further information about Shape of Training developments will be provided when they become available.
