In our Member Survey 2024, many members told us they would welcome greater clarity on what the College does and how membership delivers value for money. This video forms part of our work to better communicate the key College services that support our members and the wider profession – in particular for new fellows and members who may not yet be familiar with all areas of College work.
Our key services
The animation highlights some of our key pathology services, identified in the Member Survey 2024 as most important to members. These include:
- maintaining the highest standards in pathology training and assessment, through curricula, examinations and trainee support
- leading excellence in pathology practice by producing guidance that underpins patient safety
- championing professional development through tailored CPD and digital learning resources
- advocating for pathology, raising awareness and shaping health policy
- supporting workforce planning through recruitment, retention and wellbeing initiatives
- fostering a strong professional community and encouraging collaboration
- inspiring the next generation of pathologists through careers initiatives, fellowships and grants.
These services reflect our core vision: developing and supporting excellence in pathology for healthcare across the world.
Latest developments at the College
Over the past few months, we have delivered numerous activities that will enhance and support our member services.
- On 14 May we closed the Workforce Census 2026. Over 2,500 members responded this year, enabling the College to produce its most comprehensive and robust dataset to date. This ensures that we have accurate, representative data to address workforce shortages and advocate for better resources and support across pathology services and the workforce.
- On 27 April we hosted the second Industry Leaders’ Forum, exploring how we can further develop collaboration between industry and the profession. We received positive feedback from delegates and intend to use this event as a springboard to build on our corporate engagement programme of activities. This will include educational and advocacy initiatives, and fostering new partnerships and collaborations that support improvements to patient care.
- We have responded to numerous governmental strategies and plans as part of this year’s ongoing work advocacy work. This includes the National Cancer Plan for England, National Allergy Strategy, Women’s Health Strategy and calling for collaboration in the development of genomics cancer diagnostics.
This is just a snapshot of the extensive activities that the College has been conducting to support members and the profession this year. To find out more, please visit our news pages.
