A joint letter urging all NHS employers to look favourably on requests from doctors applying for professional leave in order to undertake national work, was recently sent from Professor Terence Stephenson, Chair of the General Medical Council, Sir Bruce Keogh, Medical Director for NHS England and the Chief Medical Officers for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
