Join part 1 of our 4-part webinar series on Managing Lower Respiratory Tract Infections.

Introduction

Lower respiratory Tract Infections have long been a challenge in managing patients afflicted with this condition. This holds true in both adults and children. The upper and the lower respiratory tract are frequently colonised with organisms, which in turn could also be causative pathogens of Lower respiratory tract infections. Diagnosis of lower respiratory infections and pneumonia, both in adults and children is a challenge, despite all the technological advances made in the clinical microbiology laboratory. There has been a surge in molecular diagnosis of respiratory infections which are considered popular among clinical departments. However, a film array panel or a Multiplex PCR result on Lower respiratory specimens, which is not interpreted appropriately for the clinical situation, could well prove counterproductive while managing a patient with respiratory infection.

We are delivering a webinar series on 'Managing Lower Respiratory Tract Infections'. This webinar series deals with a set of clinical conditions which are important for their varied clinical presentations, overlapping signs and symptoms and challenges in arriving at a proper diagnosis with imaging and microbiology. The impact that these challenges may have on the management and final outcome in patients is hopefully brought out in the webinar series. This webinar is part 1 of this webinar series that will be exploring Community Acquired Pneumonia & Lower Respiratory Infections.
