The National Undergraduate Pathology Conference (NUPC) 2025 - “Pathology and Technology” is a one-day national event on Saturday, 29 November 2025 at Reynolds Building, Charing Cross Hospital, London, bringing together medical students, trainees, and experts to explore how technology is transforming pathology through talks, poster sessions, and interactive workshops across multiple subspecialties.

Morning Session (09:00–12:45): Expert Talks

The morning will feature four engaging talks delivered by leading pathologists, each representing a different subspecialty:

  • Neuropathology by Professor Maria Thom
  • Microbiology by Dr Mauricio Arias
  • Haematology by Dr Karen Breen
  • AI & Histopathology by Dr Oliver Shutkever

Speakers will discuss their clinical and academic journeys, current research, and the role of technology within their specialties. A mid-morning coffee break will provide an opportunity for informal networking and discussion.

Lunch & Poster Session (12:45–14:00)

During lunch, attendees will have the opportunity to view student poster presentations showcasing pathology-related research from across the UK. The best abstracts will be competing for prizes. This session offers a national platform for students and trainees to share their research, exchange ideas, and receive feedback from peers and consultant pathologists.
Afternoon Workshops (14:00–17:00)

The afternoon will focus on interactive, small-group workshops designed to provide hands-on experience and insight into real-world pathology practice.

A total of 10 (or more) innovative workshops will be held, covering a wide range of topics including:

  • Forensic Toxicology
  • Digital Pathology
  • Genetics
  • Blood Film Analysis
  • Urological and Gynaecological Pathology
  • Ethical Debate on Cadevaric Dissection Anatomy Teaching
  • Global Health and Pathology
  • Antimicrobial Resistance in Humanitarian contexts by MSF
  • Pathology quizzes by AMBOSS
  • Prion Diseases
  • From Specimen to Slide
  • And more!

Each workshop will last approximately 40–45 minutes, with attendees rotating through sessions based on their ranked preferences.

Closing Ceremony (18:00-)

The day will conclude with closing remarks and an awards ceremony recognising the best poster presentations. All attendees will receive certificates of participation.
