National Pathology Week activities at Great Ormond Street Hospital featuring interactive laboratory displays and activities designed to engage children, families and hospital staff while showcasing the vital role of pathology in patient care.
Throughout National Pathology Week, Laboratory Medicine teams at Great Ormond Street Hospital will host interactive displays and hands-on activities. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet scientists and pathology professionals from a range of specialties including immunology, haematology, histopathology, chemical pathology and microbiology. Activities will demonstrate how patient samples are analysed, how laboratory testing supports diagnosis and treatment, and the important role pathology plays in healthcare. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions about careers in pathology and healthcare science.
Attendees will gain a better understanding of the role pathology plays in modern healthcare and how laboratory scientists help diagnose, monitor and treat patients. They will learn about different pathology specialties, discover the journey of a patient sample through the laboratory, and explore career opportunities within healthcare science and the NHS.
