- Advise on the safe use of medicines and chemicals.
- Obtain regulatory approval for clinical trials and for commercial use of medicines and chemicals.
- Diagnose potential cases of human intoxication.
As such toxicologists and pathologists working in this area do so in a range of settings, including the health service, industry (pharmaceutical and chemical), regulatory authorities and commercial / private laboratories.
