Tha National Audit Office has published a report on cancer screening progammes

The National Audit Office has published a report - Investigation into the management of health screening covering breast, bowel and cervical screening. The report found that none of the screening programmes met their targets.

Professor Jo Martin, College President

‘‘We strongly encourage people to attend screening – it can be life-saving. People will be naturally concerned about these programmes. Workforce shortages are a real problem, and we need support for our hard pressed, dedicated and highly skilled workforce. Staff struggle with aging and unwieldy IT as well as complex arrangements of national, regional and local structures. They desperately need systems that support, rather than impede, their work. The College is committed to supporting early cancer detection through screening, and is supporting Sir Mike Richards’ work to review how screening programmes should be organised, developed and improved.”
