Last week, nine doctors, drawn from across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region made College history by becoming the first candidates to sit the FRCPath Part 2 Histopathology examinations outside the UK.

The examinations took place during 13-14th October at the School of Medicine and King Abdullah University Hospital at Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST) in Irbid, Jordan.

This marks the start of the College's vision to establish a network of Part II examination centres within the region in order to improve access to its fellowship examinations and qualifications.

Dr Sanjiv Manek, Chair of the College's Histopathology Panel of Examiners; Dr Martin Young, Lead Examiner for Cytology; Helen Melluish, Examinations Manager and Rosemary Emodi, International Manager travelled to Jordan to oversee the examinations as well as support and train the local examinations team, which was led by Professor Ismail Matalka, who is the Dean of Medicine at JUST and also the College's International Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa.
