Content of the examination:

Part 1 Examination in Molecular Pathology

The examination will cover the Molecular Pathology of Acquired Disease HSST curriculum for Clinical Scientists.

It is a test of knowledge of application of technologies as indicated in the curriculum, their application to the following disorders and fundamentals of running a laboratory:

  • Haematopoietic neoplasms and predisposing conditions
  • Solid neoplasms and predisposing conditions
  • Laboratory management and leadership

The examination will comprise of two papers: a 3 hour long answer question (LAQ) paper and a 3 hour short answer question (SAQ) paper covering the breadth of the curriculum. Candidates must pass both papers in the same sitting. It will run on an annual basis with effect from Autumn 2018.
