New Trainee Welcome Day 2025

The College holds an annual New Trainee Welcome Day, aimed at new trainees appointed to a run-through training programme with a National Training Number (NTN), commencing pathology training in August each year.

The event aims to introduce new trainee pathologists to their College and its role, and to understand pathology training programmes and examinations and the support available.

The final programmes will be published close to the time.

Will RCPath be implementing a digital pathology-based exam in the next few years?

With the introduction and integration of PMCTs into guidelines, there has been a reduction in the number of invasive PMs performed. How can trainees meet the required numbers if this remains the same?

How can I gain experience in paediatric or forensic pathology?

How frequently do we have to send out our MSFs? Every year? And where can we find them on the College website?

Do you have any advice for seeking OOPR opportunities for trainees in regions where ACFs do not exist?

For academic trainees with reduced clinical time during CIT, is there guidance on the recommended amount of exposure to microbiology, virology, inpatient ID, clinics, etc.?

Is there any guidance from the College on how often infection trainees should have self-directed learning (SDL) days in their rotas, similar to the monthly SDL days in IMT?

I am an academic NIHF ACF ID/MM full-time trainee - if I have 3 months of research during my ST3 year, would we still be able to sit the exam in Autumn ST4?
