This exciting pack of 18 interactive activities was developed in collaboration with consultant clinical biochemist and cub leader Dr Derek McKillop, and the Northern Ireland Scout Association. The pack includes both 'table-top' and team-game-type activities and all have been developed with Cub Scout badges in mind. From 'Pin the Organ' to 'Tinkle Testing', the activities cover a range of topics and offer an fun and engaging introduction to pathology, health and disease and the human body. Some of the activities are also suitable for Beavers (aged 6 to 8 years old).

Disease Detectives can be used by primary school teachers as part of science lesson and/or enrichment sessions such as STEM clubs, and by anyone running outreach events for families and children, particularly those aged 8 to 11 years old.

The activity pack offers step-by-step instructions on how to run simple activities using easy to obtain materials. It includes links to some of our related activities and resources. In addition, video instructions to My-croscope, Tinkle Testing and Clots of Blood can be found on our YouTube channel. The pack and accompanying printable materials for some of the activities can be downloaded below.

Developed over a number of years through trialling with Cub groups in Northern Ireland, Disease Detectives was officially launched in Belfast in November 2019.
